A DOZEN REDEMPTIONS

In its most pure form history is a great ali to women.

Within it lies evidence of her contributions. The ability, the ingenuity, the risk, encountered and confronted by so many.

Documented are the lives lost in pursuit of knowledge, the quest for justice and the struggle for what is, quite simply, fair.

Evident is the loss of many great and unimagined possibilities-sacrificed to the god of ignorance, abandoned for the sake of what always was.

Emerging from she, the first who lived was the insight, the knowledge and th􀀏 endurance contained in the spirit of the woman.

Yet the song of Lorelei, which was never really heard, echoes louder from the voice of history than the cries and proclamations of so many who were actual.

Women, by tradition's own standard are responsible for the guidance and pr􀀔tection of the future. She, equal in ability to all others to formulate thought for good or for evil.

She, whose "weakness" is hallowed evidence of her disloyalty, is by instinct or perhaps understanding the most trusted.

It is by deed that she is shown. Her actions proving her: viable, dependable, capable, strong, weak, jealous, uninspired, ingenious, unmovable, unstoppable ...human.

It is by word that she is reduced and dissuaded. Words that encrust in her reality the expectation for. .. less.

Expectations held by those who allow fear and bigotry to be the text from which they draw. Every woman; held in contempt of somebody's God and too many men. And too many women.

Each linked to weakness by her accommodation of temptation.

Yet in the end, those who stand with the respect of the respected, those whose deeds meet with durable admiration and consideration are those who had the courage t􀀟 partake of the fruit of knowledge.
